Rules Governing Licensed Paralegal Practitioner – Comment Period Closes December 7, 2026

SCRP05-701. Rules Governing Licensed Paralegal Practitioners; Definitions. Amend.
SCRP04-802. Special Practice Rules; Authorization to Practice Law. Amend.
These rule amendments increase the monetary cap in debt collection cases for Licensed Paralegal Practitioners (LPPs) authorized to practice in debt collection matters. These amendments increase the cap from the current small claims amount to the cap for the debt collection and housing division (DCHA Division) of the district courts, proposed by CJA06-701. These amendments are intended to allow LPPs to practice in the DCHA Division when it begins in January 2027.
