CJA01-0204. Executive committees (AMEND). Creates court-level core teams and subcommittees of Policy, Planning, and Technology to assist the Committee in accomplishing its new technology responsibilities.

CJA04-0202.08. Fees for records, information, and services (AMEND). Allows the court to charge requesters for the first 15 minutes of personnel time. Changes “impecunious” to “indigent.” Indigent requesters are limited to one free copy of each record, after which they would be required to pay the standard rates. Exceptions can be made by the State Court Administrator. Removes references to outdated technology.

Code of Judicial Administration – Effective November 1, 2020

CJA03-0402. Human Resources Administration (AMEND). Amendments include clarifying language, provide consistency with relevant state statutes and current practices, and align with the Judicial Council’s direction regarding Human Resource policies.

CJA03-0403. Judicial Branch Education (AMEND). Amendment authorizes the Board of Justice Court Judges (as opposed to the Management Committee) to excuse judges from the annual justice court conference, and ensure judicial mentors are timely assigned and the mentoring relationship is based upon mutually agreed learning objectives and professional development plans.

CJA04-0202.08. Fees for Records, Information, and Services (AMEND). Amendments account for the use of thumb drives and other current technology, and increase the charge for storage devices from $10.00 to $15.00.

CJA04-0106. Electronic Conferencing (REPEAL). Because remote hearing provisions exist in the rules of procedure, CJA 4-106 is repealed.

CJA04-0411. Courthouse Attire (NEW). This new rule ensures that Utah’s courts are open in accordance with Article 1, Section 11 of the Utah Constitution while balancing the need for decorum in court proceedings and the safety of all persons having business in Utah’s courthouses.

CJA06-0506. Procedure for Contested Matters Filed in the Probate Court (AMEND). Amendment changes “may” to “will” in regard to scheduling a pre-mediation conference.

CJA 04-403. Signature stamp use. Amend. Permits a clerk to use the judge’s signature stamp to approve an order accepting a plea in abeyance if no appearance is required by the Uniform Fine and Bail Schedule. Effective Date: April 1, 2007.
CJA 04-510. Alternative dispute resolution. Amend. The amendments will modify the training and experience necessary to qualify for the Utah State Roster of ADR Providers and to serve as a provider in divorce mediation. The amendments will provide for sanctions other than removal from the roster. The Uniform Mediation Act is added to the required reading for qualified training programs. Effective Date: April 1, 2007.
CJA 04-704. Authority of court clerks to extend payment schedule and dismiss citations. Amend. Changes from 14 days to 20 the time in which a clerk may dismiss charges for an automotive mechanical deficiency after the deficiency has been corrected. Effective Date: April 1, 2007.

CJA 06-303. Collection of fines and restitution. Amend. Corrects references from Office of Recovery Services and Department of Corrections to Office of State Debt Collection. Effective November 1, 2006.
CJA 10-1-303. Parent-time enforcement mediation. New. To establish a policy regarding Expedited Parent-time Enforcement Pilot Program. Effective November 1, 2006.
CJA 10-1-501. Orders to show cause. New. The rule describes the process for requesting an order to show cause in the Fifth District Court. Effective November 1, 2006.
CJA 10-1-801. Fax filings. New. Prohibits most fax filings in the Eighth District Court. Effective November 1, 2006.
