Moroni, UT— The Sanpete County Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Honorable Mark K. McIff to fill the Moroni Justice Court vacancy. The position will replace Judge Ivo Peterson who retired effective June 30, 2017.

Judge Mark K. McIff currently serves as judge of the justice courts in Sevier County, Piute County, Fairview City, Fountain Green City and Spring City. He is also an attorney who practices in the south central Utah area. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting (1995) from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, and a juris doctorate degree (1998) from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He formerly held the positions of Piute County Attorney, Wayne County Attorney, Deputy Sevier County Attorney, Deputy Garfield County Attorney, city prosecutor for several cities, and chief criminal prosecutor for the Wasatch County Attorney’s Office.

Orderville, UT— The Kane County Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Honorable Ronald L. Read to fill the Town of Orderville Justice Court vacancy. The position will replace Judge Steven Wallace who will retire effective October 17, 2017.

Judge Ronald L. Read graduated from Southern Utah State College in 1981 and the S.J. Quinney College of law at the University of Utah in 1990. Judge Read then served as a law clerk for the United States District Court in Boise, Idaho. After this he was an associate and shareholder with Hughes & Read, the Deputy/Assistant City Attorney for the City of St. George, a co-founder of Read & Wright and then Read & Wright Naegle and Jensen and is currently a Washington County Justice Court Judge.

Manti, Utah— The deadline for applications for a Justice Court judge position in Manti City has been extended. The position will replace Judge Ivo Peterson who retired effective June 30, 2017.
To be considered for a Justice Court judgeship in Sanpete County, candidates must be at least 25 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a Utah resident for at least three years, and have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. In addition, candidates must be a resident of the county in which the court is located—or an adjacent county—for at least six months.

Alta, UT— The Salt Lake County Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Honorable Paul Curtis Farr to fill the Town of Alta Justice Court vacancy. The position will replace Judge Clinton Balmforth who retired from the bench on March 31, 2017.

Judge Paul C. Farr was appointed as a justice court judge in 2010 and currently serves in Herriman and Sandy City. Judge Farr received an A.S. in History from Dixie State University in 1995, a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Weber State University in 1997, and a J.D. from Brigham Young University in 2000. Judge Farr has been a member of the Utah State Bar since 2000. He had a civil litigation practice and was a partner in a mid-sized Salt Lake City law firm prior to his appointment to the bench.

Plain City, UT— The Weber County Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Bryan Jon Memmott to fill the Plain City Justice Court vacancy. The position will replace Judge James Beesley who retired from the bench on July 1, 2017.

Bryan J. Memmott obtained a Bachelor of Arts from BYU in 1999 and a Juris Doctor from Arizona State University College of Law in 2002. Following graduation from law school, Memmott was commissioned as an officer and served for nearly five years as a JAG in the United States Air Force. Upon honorably separating after his commitment, Memmott worked for Davis Miles, PLLC, in Arizona, as a civil litigation attorney. He left Davis Miles, PLLC, to open his own law firm, Brown & Memmott Law. In 2014 he decided it was time to move back home to Utah and has been working at Memmott & Associates, with a focuses on mediation, family law and civil litigation.

Memmott’s appointment to the bench is subject to completion of the court’s new judge orientation and certification by the Utah Judicial Council.
