NOMINEES ANNOUNCED FOR EPHRAIM AND MORONI JUSTICE COURT VACANCIES

Ephraim, UT—The Sanpete County Nominating Commission has selected four nominees for upcoming vacancies in the Ephraim and Moroni Justice Courts. The position will replace Judge Ivo Peterson who retired effective June 30, 2017.

Following are the nominees followed by place of employment and residence:
• Larry W. Evans, Adjunct Professor at Utah Valley University and Deputy for the Utah County Sheriffs Office, resident of Springville
• Honorable Mark Kay McIff J.D., Justice Court Judge for Fairview City, Fountain Green City, Piute County, Sevier County and Spring City, resident of Richfield
• Rodney William Rivers, J.D., General Counsel at First Colony Mortgage, resident of Lindon
• Stephen William Whiting, J.D., Whiting and Jardine, LLC, resident of Vineyard
A comment period will be held through Aug. 3, 2017, before a final candidate is selected by the mayors of Moroni and Ephraim, who have 30 days to make appointments. Each appointment is subject to ratification by the City Council in each city. The Utah Judicial Council must then certify the appointments.
