Courts and County Officials Break Ground on New Courthouse in Price
PRICE, UT — Utah Supreme Court Justice Deno Himonas joined 7th District Court officials and officials with Carbon County in breaking ground on a $14 million courthouse that will house both district and juvenile court services.
The two-story, 32,000 square-foot building will be constructed on the site of the old Carbon County office building. It will also house two district courtrooms and one juvenile courtroom. It will also include support space for district and juvenile court staff, clerks, and Carbon County Sheriff security. The building will feature enhanced security for in-custody prisoners that will create zones of separation from the public and court staff, as well as digital audio technology in courtrooms to record hearings.
The building is made possible through an agreement between the Utah State Courts and Carbon County. Construction is expected to begin Dec. 1 and is expected to be completed by May 2018.
