Judge Sean M. Petersen was appointed to the Fourth District Court in July 2021 by Governor Spencer J. Cox. He serves Juab, Millard, Utah and Wasatch counties. Prior to his judicial appointment, Judge Petersen served as a court commissioner on the Fourth District Court since 2018. Prior to his position as court commissioner, Judge Petersen was a partner at Howard, Lewis & Petersen in Provo, Utah. During his time at Howard, Lewis & Petersen, Judge Petersen was recognized as a Legal Elite by the Utah Business Magazine over multiple years as well as being named to the Super Lawyers list in Mountain States Super Lawyers. Judge Petersen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Brigham Young University in 1996, and he received his Juris Doctorate degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon in 1999. 9/21
