JUDGE BRENDAN P. MCCULLAGH

Judge McCullagh was appointed to the West Valley City Justice Court in July 2002. He previously served six years as a Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County. Judge McCullagh is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law. He has served on the Utah Judicial Council, the Board of Justice Court Judges and several of the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committees on rules and procedures. Judge McCullagh has received multiple awards and recognitions including the Utah State Bar 2021 Judge of the Year, the 2021 Board of Justice Court Judges Judge of the year, the 2007 Quality of Justice by the Utah Judicial Council, the 2010 Scott M. Matheson Award by the Utah State Bar for outstanding service to law-related education, and the 2010 Utah Substance Abuse Advisory Council's Governor's award by Gov. Gary R. Herbert for his contributions in establishing the Utah E-Warrant system. Judge McCullagh is recognized nationally as a voice in increasing access to justice through his efforts in establishing Utahs groundbreaking Small Claims Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) program. He teaches extensively on issues related to effective impaired driving sentencing and reducing impaired driving recidivism. 2/22
