Judge Sharon S. Sipes was appointed to the Second District Juvenile Court by Governor Gary R. Herbert in October 2013. She serves Davis, Morgan and Weber Counties. Judge Sipes obtained a law degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1994, and a bachelor's degree from Westminster College. Judge Sipes was an attorney with the Davis County Public Defender's office prior to her appointment to the bench. Before joining the Davis County Public Defender's office, she practiced for almost 15 years as a public defender in Weber County. For the past eight years, Judge Sipes served as a director with the Parental Defense Alliance, a non-profit organization formed to provide support and continuing education opportunities for defense attorneys representing parents in child welfare cases in the juvenile courts. Judge Sipes currently serves on the Juvenile Court Improvement Committee and is board certified as a Child Welfare Law Specialist by the National Association of Counsel for Children.3/14
