Judge Daniel F. Bertch has served as the Draper City Justice Court Judge since 1992. He has been a practicing attorney since 1984, currently with Kevin K. Robson in the firm of Bertch Robson. Judge Bertch graduated from B.Y.U. Law School in 1984, cum laude, and was awarded the Order of the Coif. He currently serves on the Uniform Fine and Bail Committee.  

Judge Michael Boehm was appointed to the South Jordan Justice Court in January 2017. Judge Boehm received a degree in business management from Brigham Young University. After a brief period in the corporate world, he returned to law school, graduating with honors from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. After receiving his Juris Doctor, Judge Boehm returned to Utah and joined the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office where he handled a wide range of matters, including a number of high-profile cases prior to his appointment. 9/17 

Judge Christopher G. Bown was appointed to the Taylorsville Justice Court in May 2021. Judge Bown received a degree in political science from Brigham Young University in 1996. Before attending law school, he was a court clerk for the Third District Court. He graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 2001. After receiving his Juris Doctor, Judge Bown, upon graduating, was employed as a Deputy District Attorney at the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office until 2013. While there, he handled many types of cases, including a number of high-profile cases, and considered his time as the assigned prosecutor in the Third District Court one of the highlights of his career. In 2013, Judge Bown became a criminal defense attorney and eventually joined the firm of Stowell, Crayk and Bown, PLLC as a partner until his appointment to the bench. 8/25/22 

Judge Augustus G. Chin was appointed to the Holladay Justice Court in August 2011. The Holladay Justice Court serves the cities of Holladay and Cottonwood Heights. Judge Chin received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah College Of Law. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish from the University of Utah. Prior to attending law school he was a civilian employee with the Department of the Army, working as a maintenance management production controller/ planner at the Tooele Army Depot. He served a law clerk-bailiff and law clerk for 3rd District Judge Tyrone E. Medley. Judge Chin was a prosecutor for the Salt Lake City Prosecutor's Office and the Summit County Attorney's Office. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Chin worked as a criminal defense attorney for Wasatch Advocates and Rasmussen and Miner. Judge Chin served as president of the Utah State Bar from 2006 to 2007, as a Utah State Bar Commissioner from 2001 to 2008, president of the Utah Minority Bar Association from 1998 to 1999, president of the Law-Related Education Board 2011-2013, and president of the Utah Bar Foundation. He was also a member of the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Professionalism and Civility from 2002 -2015. Judge Chin is a member of the Board of Justice Court Judges and is Chair of the Trust & Confidence Committee. In 2016 he received the Justice Court Service Award. He was named the Minority Bar Association Lawyer of the Year in 2007, received the Scott M. Matheson Award for Service to Law-Related Education in 2003, and the University of Utah College Of Law Young Alumnus of the Year Award in 2000.11/16 

Judge John Mack Dow was appointed to the Tooele County Justice Court in May 2010. He attended Dixie College and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of Utah. He earned a Juris Doctorate Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Dow worked for the Tooele County Attorney's Office where he prosecuted felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases for 15 years. Prior to this, he maintained a private practice that focused primarily on criminal defense and family law. Judge Dow worked for the Tooele County Sheriff's Office while attending college and has been a volunteer firefighter for Tooele City. He has served as president of the Tooele County Bar Association, on the Citizen's Review Board for the Division of Child and Family Services, on the Utah Firefighter's Museum Board, and was counsel for the Utah State Firefighter's Association. 5/11 

Judge Ronald L. Elton was appointed to the Grantsville City Justice Court in January 2015. Judge Elton is a lifelong resident of Tooele County. He attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management-Magna Cum Laude. Judge Elton also attended the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University and received a Juris Doctor Degree in 1976. Afterward, he worked in the Tooele County Attorney's Office as a law clerk, deputy County Attorney, and as a County Attorney from 1975 to 1995. He then opened a private law practice and also served as a public defender in Tooele County. He was appointed as Grantsville City Attorney in 2007 and held that position until 2011. Judge Elton also served as Rush Valley and Vernon Town attorney from 2000 to 2014. 9/17 

Judge Paul Farr was first appointed as a judge in 2010. He currently serves in Sandy and Herriman. Prior to his appointment Judge Farr was a partner in a Salt Lake City law firm with a civil trial practice. Judge Farr earned a J.D. from Brigham Young University, a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Weber State University and an A.S. in History from Dixie State University. He has been a member of the Utah State Bar since 2000. Judge Farr has served as a member of the Justice Court Board of Judges, the Utah Judicial Council and on many committees with the courts and the Utah Bar. 9/17 

Judge Clint Gilmore was appointed to the West Valley City Justice Court in January 2013. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Political Science in 2000 and received his Juris Doctor from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah in 2003 with a William H. Leary Scholar designation. He is licensed to practice law in the states of Utah and Nevada. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Elko County District Attorney's Office in Elko, Nevada. In 2005, he moved back to Utah where he was hired as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in West Valley City. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Gilmore served as the Assistant Chief Prosecuting Attorney for West Valley City, a Special Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County, and a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Utah. In 2007, for his work prosecuting federal gun crimes, he received the Director's Award for Superior Performance from the Executive Office of United States Attorneys. In 2009, he was appointed to the Transportation Safety Resource Prosecutor Advisory Committee based out of the Utah Attorney General's Office, and was elected President of the Utah Municipal Prosecutors' Association in 2010. Prior to his appointment, Judge Gilmore also taught Fourth Amendment Search & Seizure Law at the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy for the Utah Department of Public Safety for eight years. 9/17 

Judge Shauna Graves-Robertson was appointed to the Salt Lake County Justice Court by the Salt Lake County Commission in January 1999. Judge Graves-Robertson is a Salt Lake City native and a graduate of West High School. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Judge Graves-Robertson received a Masters in Public Administration in 1987 and a law degree from the University of Utah in 1990. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Graves-Robertson worked for the Salt Lake Legal Defenders Association. She graduated from the National Judicial College with a certificate in judicial studies. Judge Graves-Robertson is a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a member of the National Association of Women Judges, Women Lawyers of Utah, Minority Bar Association, the National Bar Association, and the Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Diversity. Judge Graves-Robertson is currently the presiding judge in Salt Lake County. 4/10  

Judge Shauna Kerr was appointed to the Summit County Justice Court in 2009. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1980, is a current member of the Utah State Bar, and previously admitted to the California State Bar. Judge Kerr received her undergraduate degree from Utah State University in 1977 in Political Science. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Kerr worked as the Tooele City Attorney and as Assistant Park City Attorney. Judge Kerr has also served as an elected local government at both the city and county level as a member of the Park City Council and the Summit County Commission. 9/11 

Judge Ronald E. Kunz was appointed as the West Jordan City Justice Court Judge in April 1990. As a resident of West Jordan, he has been actively involved in various civic and community service organizations, including serving as a trustee for the Utah Boys Ranch. Judge Kunz earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1979. Prior to his judicial appointment, he worked as a general law practitioner for 11 years handling a wide variety of cases before various levels of state and federal courts. Judge Kunz served as a contract legal defender for the Third Circuit Court and the City of West Jordan. He also served as the attorney for the towns of Woodruff and Kamas during the early years of his practice. Judge Kunz has served on two different Judicial Council Committees to help improve the state's trial by jury system. Under his direction, the West Jordan Justice Court has proactively implemented domestic violence programs that have resulted with Judge Kunz receiving the 2006 "Freedom Award"" from the Salt Lake Area Domestic Violence Coalition and being named the 2008 ""Advocate of the Year"" by the Utah Domestic Violence Council. 4/10" 

Judge Clemens Landau was appointed to the Salt Lake City Justice Court in 2018 by Mayor Jackie Biskupski. Prior to his appointment, he worked as a civil litigator at Parr, Brown, Gee & Loveless before moving to the appellate firm of Zimmerman Booher. Before becoming an attorney, Judge Landau worked as a paramedic in Boston, MA, and managed a woodworking and musical instrument-making company in Metten, Germany. Judge Landau currently serves as the presiding judge of the Salt Lake City Justice Court. He is a member of Utah's Access to Justice Commission, the AOC's Standing Committee on Technology, the AOCs Community Relations Subcommittee, the Implicit Bias Subcommittee of the MUJI Civil Committee, and Salt Lake County's working group on improving the criminal justice system's response to individuals suffering from mental illness. He also serves on several boards, including the Salt Lake County Bar Association, the Utah Center for Legal Inclusion (a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the goals of equity and inclusion in Utah's legal profession), and the Utah Bar's Leadership Academy. In addition, he teaches a Law and Literature class at the Utah State Prison that is part of the University of Utah's Prison Education Project (UPEP), and has team-taught courses on legal design, access to justice, and racial equity/law at the University of Utah Law School, Stanford Law School, and the Harvard School of Design. Judge Landau has also presented on a variety of topics for the National Center for State Courts, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System, and the Women Lawyers of Utah. 6/17/22 

Judge Jojo Liu was appointed to the Salt Lake City Justice Court by Mayor Erin Mendenhall in June 2022. Previously, she was the Director of the Salt Lake County Office of Criminal Justice Initiatives and the Director of the Salt Lake County Criminal Justice Advisory Council (CJAC). From 2007-2015, she was a Clinical Law Professor and Co-Director of the Juvenile Justice Clinic at Loyola Law School- Los Angeles. Judge Liu currently serves on the Utah State Bar Access to Justice Commission and is a founding board member of First Star Foster Youth Academy at the University of Utah. She is a graduate of Harvard College and received a juris doctorate degree from Columbia Law School. 8/22 

Judge Sydney Magid was appointed to the Salt Lake City Justice Court in 2004. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah College of Law in 1993 where she was a William H. Leary Scholar. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she worked as an attorney in private practice. She currently serves on the Justice Court Judges Education Curriculum Subcommittee. 

Judge McCullagh was appointed to the West Valley City Justice Court in July 2002. He previously served six years as a Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County. Judge McCullagh is a graduate of the University of Utah College of Law. He has served on the Utah Judicial Council, the Board of Justice Court Judges and several of the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committees on rules and procedures. Judge McCullagh has received multiple awards and recognitions including the Utah State Bar 2021 Judge of the Year, the 2021 Board of Justice Court Judges Judge of the year, the 2007 Quality of Justice by the Utah Judicial Council, the 2010 Scott M. Matheson Award by the Utah State Bar for outstanding service to law-related education, and the 2010 Utah Substance Abuse Advisory Council's Governor's award by Gov. Gary R. Herbert for his contributions in establishing the Utah E-Warrant system. Judge McCullagh is recognized nationally as a voice in increasing access to justice through his efforts in establishing Utahs groundbreaking Small Claims Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) program. He teaches extensively on issues related to effective impaired driving sentencing and reducing impaired driving recidivism. 2/22 

Judge Scott J. Mickelsen was appointed to the Bluffdale Justice Court in May 2012. He is a 36-year veteran of law enforcement. Judge Mickelsen earned a Master of Criminal Justice Degree and has served as an adjunct professor at two Utah universities, teaching ethics, management, and other courses. He is a former hostage negotiator with particular expertise in conflict resolution. Judge Mickelsen has worked as a division commander in patrol, court security, administrative support, and many other assignments and special projects, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has worked with youth in the community teaching principles of law enforcement and citizenship. Judge Mickelsen created "Officer Friendly"" programs for implementation into elementary school curriculum and taught criminal justice to youth in area high schools. 9/12" 

Judge Katherine Peters was appointed to the Salt Lake City Justice Court in 2019. She earned a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2001. After a brief period at a prominent civil litigation firm with a focus on property-tax litigation, Judge Peters served as a Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County for seventeen years. As a Deputy District Attorney, Judge Peters competently and diligently managed a wide variety of cases, ranging from misdemeanor offenses to violent felonies, homicide, and sexual offenses, including numerous high-profile cases. Judge Peters has worked in both adult and juvenile court settings. Judge Peters currently serves on the JPEC Juror Survey Subcommittee and previously served on the Self-Represented Parties Committee. 6/22 

Judge Ryan Richards serves the South Salt Lake Justice Court. Judge Richards graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A. in Political Science, and then interned at the Office of the U.S. Defense Advisor at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. After returning to the United States, Judge Richards attended the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, and graduated magna cum laude. After graduation, Judge Richards worked first as an associate city prosecutor for Salt Lake City, and then as the city prosecutor for South Salt Lake City. Following his prosecutorial work, Judge Richards also served as an assistant attorney general for the Utah Attorney General's Office where he represented the Driver's License Division and the Department of Public Safety. 9/08/22 

Judge Jeanne Robison has served the Salt Lake City Justice Court since 2005. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Robison worked as an assistant city prosecutor for Salt Lake City from 1995 through 2005. She earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 1986 and a J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1994. Judge Robison has been an adjunct professor for the University of Utah and University of Phoenix. She has served as a member of the Utah State Bar's Needs of Children Committee and the Board of Directors of the Multi-Cultural Legal Center. Judge Robison currently serves as chair of the Justice Court Education Curriculum Subcommittee. She also presides over cases referred to Passages, which is a collaborative restorative justice program. 4/10  

Judge Paul Thompson was appointed to the Murray City Justice Court in 2008. He has served as an active or senior judge since 1992. Judge Thompson received a degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1976. He served as the mayor of Sandy City from 1978 to 1982, and is a former city attorney for South Salt Lake, Alta, and South Jordan. Judge Thompson is a former chairman of the Salt Lake County Council of Governments, member of the Wasatch Front Regional Council, and trustee of the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau. He was the founding chairman of the Third Judicial District Victim's Rights Committee. Judge Thompson has been a member of the Utah State Bar since 1976. 4/10  

Judge George F. Vo-Duc was appointed to the Midvale City Justice Court in January 2017. Judge Vo-Duc is a veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of the University of Utah, where he received a Bachelor of Philosophy in 1996 and a Juris Doctor in 2001. Prior to appointment, Judge Vo-Duc worked as a Deputy District Attorney for Salt Lake County for 15 years, where he prosecuted narcotics, gang, special victim, and violent felony cases. 9/17
