CJA1-204. Executive committees. (AMEND) Amends membership on the Technology Advisory Subcommittee.

CJA4-202.01. Definitions. (AMEND) Clarifies that calendars are not “records.”

CJA4-905. Restraint of minors in juvenile court. (AMEND) The approved amendments fix an incorrect reference.

The approved amendments below update statutory references to account for the recodification of the Domestic Relations Code.

Code of Judicial Administration – Effective November 1, 2022

CJA03-0421. WINGS Committee. (NEW). Outlines the roles and responsibilities of the new Standing Committee on Working Interdisciplinary Network of Guardianship Stakeholders (WINGS).

CJA04-0903. Uniform custody evaluations. (AMEND). Limits the circumstances under which a custody evaluation can be ordered, outlines the training requirements of those who conduct custody evaluations, and shortens the time period in which a party must request a custody evaluation from 45 days to 28 days after the custody evaluation conference.

CJA06-0104. Water law judges. (NEW). New rule creating designated water judges in district court to handle cases involving water law and the adjudication of water rights.

Code of Judicial Administration – Effective November 1, 2019

CJA07-0302. Court reports prepared for delinquency cases (formerly titled “Social studies”). AMEND. Changes “social studies” to “court reports” to reflect current nomenclature. Provides greater detail regarding information to be included in court reports. Makes non-substantive stylistics changes.

CJA04-0202.03. Records access. AMEND. Permits a parent or guardian of a minor victim to access the disposition order entered in a delinquency case.

CJA04-0903. Uniform custody evaluations. AMEND. Adds “Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor” to list of professionals who may perform custody evaluations and replaces list of statutory custody factors with citation to relevant sections of Utah Code.

Code of Judicial Administration – Effective November 1, 2016

CJA03-0403 Judicial branch education. Amend. Gives the Management Committee authority to excuse an active senior judge applying for reappointment from completing the annual 30 hour education requirement based on good cause. To be eligible, the senior judge must have completed at least 60 total education hours in the two years preceding the effective date of reappointment.

CJA04-0202.02 Records classification. Amend. Classifies jail booking sheets and nonresident violator notices of compliance as private. Deletes language addressing appellate brief addenda as they are governed by other rules.

CJA04-0404 Jury selection and service. Amend. Incorporates recent amendments to the statute regarding a juror’s term of service.

CJA04-0903 Uniform custody evaluations. Amend. Clarifies the list of professionals who may perform custody evaluations. Eliminates the provision allowing two custody evaluators to be appointed if one party resides out of state. Adds additional factors for a custody evaluator to consider when conducting an evaluation.
