Utah law allows you to mail a copy of the SUMMONS and VERIFIED PETITION FOR DIVORCE by certified mail, return receipt requested, or, commercial courier service requiring a signature (such as United Parcel Service or Federal Express).
Service will only be complete if Respondent personally signs the receipt and the post office or commercial courier service returns it to you. No one else is allowed to sign the receipt.
If you choose this option, the SUMMONS and PROOF OF SERVICE form will be printed for you. You will need to attach copies of the SUMMONS and the signed receipt to the form and file it with the court.
NOTE: If Respondent does not personally sign the receipt then you must use another method of service such as having a sheriff or constable deliver the SUMMONS and VERIFIED PETITION FOR DIVORCE to Respondent.
